My daughter decided to participate in the ECOT online homeschooling that this state offers. Public school started a week and a half before the homeschooling so I called the public school to find out if she had to go there for that week and a half and they said NO there would be no sense in it. Then once homeschooling started I ended up having that emergency surgery and Michelle became frustrated with the homeschool and wanted to go back to the public school, I had to call and get their permission for her to come back, took them 2 days to get her back in. So now I get a letter in the mail saying they want her to sign a statement that she has been a chronic truant. There is no way she is signing that, I am going to see the judge. The school told me not to send her for that week and a half and they are counting all of those days saying she missed 15 all together so far this year.
This is coming from a school that actually excuses kids from school 3 times a year to hunt with their parents. 10 of those days were the schools fault if not 12. She has NEVER been in trouble before and since I wouldnt let her sign that paper so I have to see the judge. I dont know what they are going to do but I sent in all the papers proving she was enrolled in the homeschool the first week she went back so this is ridiculous.
Has anyone gone through this? If so what can the judge do , my nerves are very bad about this.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Here in Ohio, the school pops out a computer list of truant kids and the State of Ohio presses charges on the parents, I forget the exact wordage of the charges, but it is a 1st degree misdeameanor punishable by $1,000 fine and/or 6 months in jail.
It cost almost $600 to defend myself. Charges were dropped in a pre-trial hearing due to my documentation on efforts to help my deliquent child (psychologists, programs, etc) and a very supporting words in my defense by my child's probation officer. Having a lawyer willing to go to trial also helped... if it went to trial, it would have cost me a lot more than the fine, but there was prison time on the line and a matter of principle... I was not a deadbeat parent who didn't give a shit about their kid. The deal cut was the charges were dropped with prejudice so I could not sue them.
