In my case.. alcohol makes me worse so i dont find it relaxing anyway. It works as a depressant for me. Also, if it does relax you..its only a temporary fix.

perhaps my post was too long?

deleted_user
Alcohol is not a good idea if it is being used to relax, it's too easy to become dependant on it. Meditation, Tai Chi, exercise, books, bubble baths are all much more effective ways

is my post really short?

im new on here and i was trying my topic out which was about me craving for wine to relax, but most of my post got lost, i stil am craving for a glass of wine to go with my roast chicken dinner..

I unfortunatly drink to much to get rid of the pain. Its an easy escape but its doing me more damage then good. Im sure a glass of wine a night wouldnt harm but dont start using it to self medicate.

NO NO, Alcohol is a bad idea, if you're in pain self medicating ias not the way to go because it can lead to other more serious problems down the line! Find someone to talk to, come here to DS you'll always find someone to talk to.

I don't think it's a good idea overall. For me when I drink I end up drinking too much. At the time it feels great but then it really peaks my anxiety the next day. Especially if I was with others and can't remember everything. Obviously a glass of wine won't do that if that's all you're going to have, for me it doesn't usually work that way though.

Moderate drinking, even on meds is ok, I repeat the word MODERATE! But it is also too easy to become reliant on it, which is never good!! Drinking a lot while on meds can make you feel worse.

I would say if you are going to have an occasional drink, then go ahead.

For me I use it to relax, at least that's what I tell myself. It has got to the point that I drink everyday, which not only increases my depression but doesn't help my weight problem - which, of course, increases my depression. It's a slippery slope - if you can have a glass of wine and enjoy it, I guess it's ok - just be careful to not self medicate

i used to be scared of just drinking anything while on meds, but now i have a beer or a glass of wine and dont think too much about it, it's no big deal as long as you do it in moderation. I say if you enjoy a glass, go ahead! you cant let all of lifes joy go, just make sure it is responsible.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
