Well we have been having problems with our propane company who supplies the fuel for our heat. We had owed them money for filling up our tank in mid may when we didnt need fuel. So since we didnt have the money and didnt expect to be filled agian till fall we didnt pay it till we needed it. So they plugged our tank and turned off the gas to the house. So anyways we paid them the balance, plus a service fee to un-plug the tank and turn the fuel back on to the house. Well when my husband tried to fire the furnance up on a saturday it wouldnt light. So I called the propane company because something wasnt right. They told me they wanted 180 dollars in cash to come look at it. I said no thank you we dont have 180 dollars in cash at this current moment in time. So we called someone else to come look at it for free. Turned out the line was never turned on. So I called the propane company again and left a message saying that I wasnt a happy customer right now to give me a call back. They called back but I didnt make it to the phone in time. I recieved a message from the manager saying we had ten days to find another supplier. That he wasnt going to put up with the bullshit ( his exact words ) that he put up with today. It took them 120 days to get their money and now its the weekend and I wanted them to jump through hoops for us! Well first off the tank was never turned on cause their tech fucked up. Second phone call was just to report that to them. So I filed a complaint with the better buisess burea for poor customer service and the way I was talked to. Said I wanted them to withdrawl their threat to dig up the tank and a written appology or the 715.48 that we just paid for the fuel, service call, and the intrest back to us for the way I was talked to. My husband talked to the land lord. She said they cant pull the tank because they are under contract with them for 400 plus residental and commercial units. To not worry about it to just let it go. Well I got a letter in the mail the other day saying they are coming out on the fifth to dig up the tank. So I called the propane company and talked to the manager. Informed him about the contract that they have with my land lord he said I dont care im coming to dig up our tank. I said okay I wanted to inform you the reason for my second phone call and explained about the tech not turning the line on. Said I didnt appriciate the way he talked to me. He said something about someone calling there saying they were contacting the media I said im sorry that happened to you that was neither myself or my husband. That we have five children and cannot be without heat. He said I dont care im coming to dig up my tank. So I got off the phone with him call my land lord. Now she is saying that if they dig up the tank it is our responsiblity to have another one put in. So my husband then went to the company and talked to the manager. He said he would think about it to give him a few days. So my husband went up today and the manager wasnt there so they contacted him on his nextel. The manager said they will still be out on the fifth to get the tank because he had to respond to the better buisness burea because of the complaint I filed with them. I have an appointment with an attorney tommorow it was the soonest I could get it. I saved the voice mail, I have a copy of the invoice we got saying there was no balance, and I have the letter saying they are coming out on wednesday to dig up the tank. I dont know what to do. My kids cant be without heat. My son has asthma. Plus we just paid them over seven hundred dollars right before christmas to get the heat back on. This cant be legal. Its winter and its cold. We had freezing rain yesterday and last night. Please help. Any advice would really help.

Im sorry hun, I dont know anything about this kind of thing but it sounds very illegal to me. Wishing you so much luck and ill be thinking of you and you family.

Seems to me getting an attorney was a good move, amd maybe you should contact the media. If nothing else this manager is playing dirty out of revenge for you calling the better business bureau.

I dont believe that what they are doing is legal. Your obligation to pay has been met. You own the gas that is in the tank now. Free and clear..it is yours. A good person to call that deals with complaints from businesses is the attorney generals office. Alot of people dont know this but they file complaints and make phone calls on behalf of people. free of charge and it is done quickly.

think I would call the media, they already had one complaint. He is the manager, or owner? Who is his boss? Isn't there someone who controls utilities in your area. Seems to me, it is abuse of power. I would also call the BBB back.

Just hang in there and do what is right. It will work out and you are not going to have no heat. They are playing hardball but if you have a lawyer, they'll will change their tune. It will work out, just stick to your guns. Good luck!

ZAZAS
yeah, pixie, great idea and your right, they do.

I have a meeting set up with a private attorney at ten am tommorow. But we dont have the money to pay for him. Its just a free consultation. I did save the voice mail. I have the name of the manager and the VP of the company. How would I get ahold of the attorney general. Everything is right around the corner we need to be able to put a hold on the dig.

Isn't there a law about not being able to remove attached property. For instance, if you have new shutters put on your house, fire the contractor minutes after he attaches them to your house, he can not remove them. I have had this happen when my ex had a home repair business. Isn't a gas tank attached to your house or yard? Just don't think they can do this.

Wow, tahts horrible, where do you live? Here, (not sure if its the whole country or just my state) they can turn off heat for no payment but when it gets below a ccertain temp they have to turn it back on, they also have collections for people who can't pay their gas bill

The tank belongs to Allied Propane. The gas in the tank is ours as we already paid for it. The tank is under ground and then it runs into the house. I am so angry right now. So if anyone is thinking about changing propane companies dont use allied propane!

Try contacting the police in your area, and ask if they can serve them with an order to stay off and away from the property you live on. Explain to them what happened regarding the gas. I believe they can force them to stay off, and if they do go on, they can be arrested.

I definitely would speak to the lawyer, and contact the media if he's going to be a dickhead about it! In new orleans, due to all the contractor scmas since Hurricane Katrina, the local news channel has this program called "6 on your side" where customers and citizens that get screwed over get their stories played on the news, AND the reporters confront the "bad companies" and try to get answers. Almost ALWAYS there is IMMEDIATE action once the story is aired. Maybe you could do that? Definitely get some space heaters in the meantime, just make sure to be careful not to start fires. I'm sorry you're going through this. Put your landlord on the spot too, it's also their responsibility to take care of their tenants.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
