I know I am an alcoholic and I don't know the term anymore but manic depressant.
I have a very close friend who is required to go to AA meetings. I have read the so called oath. It pisses me off beyond no return. You have to state God in how many of the 12 steps. I told him to fight it..He has the right to believe in what he wants and then there is the seperation of the church and the state...but the state requires him to go to meetings about God or at least require him to believe .
God...Prove It ! AA!! Another religous group and it shouldn't be that way.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
The thing I don't like about AA is that:
1) You can't respond to other people's comments, you have to just listen and allow others to tell their story.
2) they only use their own printed information - no other resources are allowed.
3) they do not allow outside donations from any other organizations. They are entirely self funded, and therefore, self regulated, which can be a bad thing for a large organization.
4)They insist if you do not attend their meetings, and only their meetings, then you are doomed to have a relapse and are considered back into being a practicing alcoholic, or soon will be. Kind of sounds like a few churches I know. This is what makes some people feel that AA is a kind of cult.
Plus I imagine if the state has grounds to require your friend to go to AA, the alternatives might be worse.
