My Uncle Gary. At the time he was mid 50s, lost 1 leg ...diabetes.
He came to my apt. to give me a ride to work.
I think it was 1999 ....He was sitting in my living room...and he noticed my bookshelves complete with encyclopedia and dictionary and various other reference volumes. He said wow, you have "books"
And that he was glad to see that I was a "classy broad". LMAO
I was 30 or 31 at the time. ...he died about 6 months later. One of my best memories -- *grin*

Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
What he did do, quite well, and most likely by accident, was to treat us teenagers as if we were adults. He gave us respect, and kept giving it even when we really did not deserve it.
I mean the type of respect one gives another adult. I don't think he was being sarcastic, he just did it that way.
He died many years ago, but I have tried to be the Uncle Pepper who treats his nieces and nephews (and other young people) more adult like. I hope I have done that. i did not tell my uncle that until he died. My sister have an euology, and she included that little bit in it.
