Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Realise this has prolly been said before... but... well its taking my mind off things and think it could be useful if someone isn't getting enough help
1. a) if you need help urgently, titles that include words such as urgent, help, crying, feeling suicidal, really needing X Y or Z are good
b) caps and punctuation can also bring attention to a post
2. title should probably be in some way related to post - that way the people who can relate to X Y or Z will be more likely to read the post e.g. question about a certain drug should prolly be included in the title
3. I know it sucks if you have a lot on your mind or want to say a lot, but really really long posts tend to get fewer replies because... well maybe because one symptom of depression is difficulty thinking/concentrating/remembering, and also a big block of text where you have to scroll down the page to see the bottom of the post can be very daunting so where possible... its best to be concise and remember you can always add more things you want to say to your post as replies
4. a) BUMP = Bring Up My Post
b) Flick = Invented by Cap... to make it more interesting. Both do the same thing and if you have nothing more to add to a post or can't add anything but feel its important and think someone else could, just type bump. or bounce or whatever and its fine to bump your own post. It will send the thread to the top of the first page and so people are more likely to see it... its a good idea if you posted when things were a little quiet to bump the post again a little later when more people are online as you'll likely get more responses.
5. CHRISTIANS ONLY PLEASE / ATHEISTS ONLY PLEASE or any other post excluding a certain group of people it effectively racism/bullying .... we've all learned by now it just makes people more unhappy DON'T DO IT KIDS - whatever you have to say make it open to everybody - its an open forum, no particular group of people is excluded from the forum so why should they be excluded from a certain post - its going to offend people and its just not nice.
6. If you do have a lot to say... writing in sentences with punctuation and breaking up big blocks of text really helps
7. Don't get upset if your post isn't getting as many replies as you want - more than likely it is not because people are ignoring you but that they may not know what to say to help you. keep bumping, do yourself a favour and don't start a 'nobody helps me' thread cause it almost always ends in tears.
8. Please don't bring up old threads that turned into long arguments... it means other more important posts get shoved down to the bottom.
well... clearly I didn't take my own advice and make this a short thread.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
AMEN!
