Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Depression can affect you internally and externally - it can affect you emotionally and it can also cause aches and pains and fatigue. Tackling all of this from all sides with several factors is the key to trying to get better.
It likely won't be a single thing that will make you feel better.
Sorry I didn't really answer your question... but I hope I helped somehow.
Type I: Is a depressed mood, that most people experience from time to time. But it is transient,(goes away on its own after a few days or a week or two) and not severe enough to disrupt your life significantly.
Type II: Major depression -- lasts longer than two weeks, has several of the symptoms of depression, and often needs treatment with meds and/or therapy. Both meds and therapy are often recommended as the most effective treatment for major depression.
Then, there is "Situational" depression -- which is brought on by some life event, such as a death in the family, divorce, job loss, or significant change in health, abuse, etc.
There is also biophysiological depression -- which is not caused by an external event of some kind. It is simply a chemical brain imbalance.
Both of these kinds of depression can be severe enough to cause major depression. And both kinds are treated the same way.
