My friend and neighbor having dinner with head of department and 5 to 7 grad students now. She kinda invited me, but just kinda since I am not comfortable with head of department. I prepared vegetarian dish as my friend asked, small salad-- it is not bad. But since I told her I won't come, I don't know:
a. Should I call my friend ask whether I could come for couple of minutes with Julia? And then to come, bring dish and stay for 5 minutes?
b. Not to come, eat the dish myself-- it tasty.
I am thinking for it for the whole hour and feel completely stupid.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I have found myself agonizing over stuff like this, I know how it feels...
you can excuse yourself anytime, and may have a good time
Next time an opportunity arises force yourself to say 'yes' and follow through with it. Get a sitter even so you can not be hindered from interacting with others and learn to enjoy yourself. Julia does not need to attend something for adults anyway and it's not good to feel you must always stay home with her. She will survive and you need to make friends who have something in common with you too.
