my dad also has depression and I can find it really difficult having to cope with his depression and mine. it almost feels like he's in competition with me

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I don't live with him anymore, but when I used to, there was no air for me to breath, so it really didn't matter much that I was depressed, I just had to deal - not to say I dealt well.
Are you getting away from him soon?
There's not much you can do I guess.
Did you have depression before he started taking it out on you? I would think, if so, that probably didnt help much.

I am glad you tried to tell him, but a lot of people from his generation will not see anything as a problem. Something really drastic will have to hit him for him to see what he needs to.
