Depression in Children Support Group
Childhood","Children can have depression, an illness marked by persistent sadness or disruptive behavior. Mood shifts, acting out, despair, and low moods (similar to adults) are the main symptoms of depression in children and are often overlooked as normal child-like emotions. If you have a child you suspect may have depression, join the community and get support."

(I tried posting this once but it didn't post?? Trying again...)
My son told me last night that he was depressed. I have been depressed myself for a while (and I am seeking help) so I don't know if my own depression is 'rubbing off' on him.
He does suffer from PTSD (as do I) from his bio-dad. This last weekend he did witness a pretty bad argument between his step dad and I so I thought maybe that triggered some of his PTSD.
He was unable last night to tell us what he thought was making him sad, or what he thought would make him happy.
Are there any books out there to read about it? THey could be books for us to read as parents, for us to read with him or books for him to read on his own. Even a DVD out there that address depression might help.
He does see a counselor every month or so who helps him with his issues of PTSD. Of course if I don't see improvment soon I will take him to see his doc.
Any advice is welcome.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
