I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I then stayed on blood thinners for 3 months. During this time I would sometimes get pains in my groin etc. And twice my leg swelled a bit (not as bad or originally) due to too much standing around. It's now 5 months and thankfully don't have genetic factors so am off blood thinners.
I don't have any pain really, leg still slightly bigger and will swell if I exercise too much etc. Main problem I have now is with my toe which is a bit infected due to the circulation problems and wearing stockings.
I have recently started wearing the stockings less and only one leg after the genetic tests. I am now just wearing it when I'm driving a long way or exercising. My life is pretty normal again now and I'm not experiencing any pain.
(unlike me)...wear the buttarse fugly surgical stockings and don't complain..(unlike me).. and take care of yourself.
I was told I will be on Coumadin for 12 months. That is the new medical thinking btw.. no more of this 3 month stuff.. it is now 6-12 months to make sure the clot is taken care of.
And then Aspirin for life. There is a chance of more clots in the future from what reading I have done, something the doctors do not tell you. Take the meds, exercise, drink the water, wear the stockings, elevate the limb.. and don't overdue the caffiene, booze etc.. (unlike me).. and you should be fine and feeling much better very soon.
