My husband had a serious lung embolism in April after an operation 4 months earlier. After recovering and coming off warfarin, we went to Rome and he had another. The hospital in Rome discovered an old solid clot behind his right knee, which had not been detected here in Wales. (His legs wre not scanned). The doctor in Rome suggested he tried to have it removed as he is so young (60). Is this possible? Our GP does not think so. Also any advice how to recover? He has not recieved any and has no hodpital appointment for a month. He is on Sintrom (like warfarin) and has his INR checked twice a week at the moment.
