Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Hello,
i have just joined this community to get some info please if i may?
Today i got a pain in my lower left leg, close to the shin bone midway down. Now this pain started like a cramp but it got really painful, i tried the leg stretches like you do for a cramp(only ever had 1 in my life), but it only made it so much worse, the muscle was not hard or stiff or crampy, i was in tears with the pain. I couldn't sit or lie so i walked trying to find something to ease the pain, it helped but it was still there. I usually don't go to the doctor, or worry about aches and pains, but something did not feel right, I went to my local GP, she measured my leg, it was swollen but only slightly, it was red and hot and painful to touch, not the whole area, only 2 inches near my shin. She did my reflexes, pulse and blood pressure. She said she was looking for signs of DVT.
The doctor said she doesn't think it is DVT but doesn't know what it is, she said to go home and if it swells or gets worse tomorrow to come back to see her.
My questions are, should i be worried, what signs am i looking for, was the doctor too blase about this, does it sound similar to signs of DVT and any other info would be appreciated?
I am not on any meds, have not been flying, not pregnant or lying around.
Thank you.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Please insist on having an u/s done to be sure.

Good luck, I hope you don't actually have a clot.
