I've had UC since 2005 and found out this year that when I exercise my UC gets worse! At least I think it does! I had just had an operation on my neck and mouth which was very painful and stressful, they also pumped me full of antibiotics to keep off infection. So I don't know if the stress and antibiotics caused the recent flare up. The UC had been in remission sine early 2007 before the op. Anyway I started excercising again earlier this year, 5 to 6 times a week. I was doing 3 half hour jogging sessions on the treadmil and 3 1-hour long weight lifting exercises per week. Even though I had the beginings of a mild flare up, when I did any exercise - especially on the treadmil - I started to feel the familiar UC cramping in the abdomin and very soon I was running to the toilet. It got so inconveniant I had to stop completely! So my question is: does anyone elses UC get worse when they physically exert themselves? I've read some Doctors say it's good for the UC as it flushs blood away from the abdomin for use in muscles, therefore easing the pain?
