how long did it take for you to get diagnosed?

I was wondering how long did it take for the doctors to diagnose you and what kind of tests did they run? and has anyone ever had bacteria overgrowth in the small intestine when they had crohns?

my dad had UC and had his boewl removed his doc always told him to keep an eye on his children. I hadnt noticed till my boyfreind pointed out that i went to toilet bout 10 times a day, as i had no pain or anything didnt mention it 2 anyone. then one day i started bleeding and was sick, i was taken in to hospital that day, stayed in for 3 weeks they didnt treat me, io jus had to keep a poo chart! lol! then i had a colonscopy, 4 weeks later and they told me there and then, as i cld see on the screen. i was very lucky as my dad made sure i got treatment asap, as they left him for years and he now has a bag. i was very lucky

It took a year for me to be diagnosed...my doctor just blew me off saying it was cold and flu season...by the time i was FINALLY diagnosed i was severly anemic and was put on TPN and LIPIDS for 7months, because of my doctors bad judgment my colon was too damaged to be saved and i now have a J-Pouch.

there's nothing worse than hearing "we could have helped you if you would have told us earlier."

my response,"TOLD YOU EARLIER??" I'VE BEEN COMING IN ONCE A WEEK FOR THE PAST YEAR, YOU JUST SUCK AT YOUR JOB.


haha i never looked back...best advice to everyone, it's your body...you're in control, don't let doctors assume they know what's best, you know how you're feeling and YOU know what's best.

    I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
