Its been hard on my kids. Just like my husband they have wanted to help but they don't know how to. Plus i feel like i am taking away a part of there childhood. I think they have had to grow alot faster, because i'v tryed to help them understand that i am sick. Is it hard for any one else? Plus they do feel sad when i am not feeling well. i am really close with my kids, but have a lot of guilt. And there are times they take advantage as well. When i had my surgery in 2002 my kids had a hard time when i was gone for a week. my youngest took it the worst he was seven at the time and even cryed to his teachers at school. And i didn't even know until i got out of the hospital.so what do you do or say to them???

One of the things I do with my boys is to always communicate with them about whats going on and let them share how they are feeling. I talk to them about everything and help them to understand what is happening I keep them involved.
Of course they are boys and want to do boy things which is great and unfortunately I have had to call of some fishing trips and camping trips which upsets them but they seem to understand.
I have to run, hope this gives a little bit of help.
