I was told I had UC years ago.
Just this year the tests showed crohns and not uc.
I was on asacol for a long time. It did help the potty stops.
I have been on lots of meds.
Now I'm doing the remicade infusions along with pentasa and entocort.
Right now I'm doing well.
Through the years I've had flares that lasted one day to a week to months with as many as 25 to 29 potty stops a day. I also have a lot of bloating, gas, and cramping (especially befor a bowel movement). And often I feel sick to my stomach when I have to go to the bathroom.
Along with all that I have arthritis that flares with the crohns. It's from the inflamation that goes with the disease. It settles in the joints usually and causes a lot of pain.
The remicade has helped me a lot.
You might look for information on what to eat and what to stay away from especially when in a flare.
Everyone is different.
Hope this helps
I wish you well
I have noticed that stress and food tend to have something to do with the trend of my husbands flare ups
Another thing that we started about 2 years ago is regular Chiropratic care (one with a Pro-adjuster as well as manunal adjustment), this has seemed to help tremendasly.
My husbands symptons of Crohn's are similar to what you are experiencing. when his flare ups start I try to get him in a comfortable place (our couch or in bed) with heating pads.
I do try to keep up on his bowels to try to prevent anything from coming (if he has not gone in 2 days he gets my "special" tea is mild form otherwise he gets diareah (sp)).
Basically from what I have seen I do try to help with the flare ups but when they come they come. I am down to trying to keep him regular and when they occur I attempt to make him comfortable. They are miserable though, no matter how you look at it.
