i talked to my endocrinologist today and she told me about this procedure. they are working me up slowly to a high dosage of niacin(eventually 6000 mgs a day, i'm at 600 right now) but i had to check myself into the hospital again last week and they are afraid it will take too long to get to the proper dosage. if i have to go back to the hospital again with pain then they are going to recommend this procedure. apparently its kind of a "cholesterol targeted dialysis." i found this website about it( http://unccardiology.org/handler.cfm?event=practice,template&cpid=176). i was hoping to talk to somebody that has had this procedure or knows a little more about it.

I do not know much if that procedure. Sounds like it's going to filter the bad cholesterol out of your blood stream.
So sorry to hear you have to go through all of this at such a young age.
Take it easy..and keep up with those Doc appts...
Would love to hear your updates on this procedure!
Wish you well!
One thing, is you might ask Dr. Orrange here on DS. She might know a little about it.
