I have been on Atenolol since 2003. During that time my weight has gone up about 30 pounds and I am always tired. I have told my Cardiologist about this several times and he tells me that I need to exercise more and eat less.
I blame it on the drugs but I get told that I am just using it as an excuse.
Anyone else have similiar problems?

Welcome Jimbo:I have been on Atenolol for ten years. It has been the only medication to keep my blood pressure under control. I lost 60 pounds on a low fat diet and a lot of walking when I started taking it. I put the weight back on plus so I can't blame the medicne. Since being on the medication I also have been tired like yourself. My cardiologist said the atenolol slows your heart rate down so it doesn't have to work as hard. Since being on the medication my hands and feet are also always cold, a side effect.

Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
