Today I felt well enough to do a bit of pre-Christmas cleaning. I washed the curtains in the dining room and washed those windows, too. (Just the insides....it's too cold to do the outsides, but every little bit helps!)
Because of the job I used to have, I hadn't had the time or energy to do this for probably 3 years. (no shame there...) But I was amazed to see just how clean everything still was. Sure there was a moderate amount of dust and cobwebs, but it was NOTHING like it used to be when I was still smoking!
The walls in that dining room last got painted about 8 years ago, and they STILL don't need washing! I quit smoking after 28 years back on February 3rd, 1009. It's funny how I remember the date!
I'll never forget the brown tar that I used to get on the cloths when I'd wash windows....blech! None of that now. And I also used to have to wash all the walls (and ceilings!) in my house every year when I was still smoking.
I thought since we just had the Great American Smokout, and I know of several who are struggling with quitting, that it might be good to start a "gratitude list" of all the great advantages to not smoking.
I'm sure most of you, dear friends, will have something to add to this list. Thank you all for being there for me. You're just wonderful.
Hugs, Sue

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

I have and mild case of COPD from smoking 33 years of my life, which could of been worst.
No more standing outside in the rain, sleet, hail and snow; just to have that cigarette. Since, I was the only one on both sides of the families whom smoked.
Gee! Whiz, I never realize just what all I missed (Gossip) when I would leave to go outside, but not anymore. lol
No more nagging hubby...
But most of all; to be able to breathe in and smell fresh air...
