I have been a smoker for 33 years quite heavily and have now been smoke free for 7 months . I complained to my doctor about difficulty breathing 3.5 months prior to my MI yet ended up with a heart attack and still have breathing problems and the same symptoms up to my heart attack yet my doctor and the internist who dictate my treatment ignore my breathing difficulty and problems which go along with it .Do I change doctors ? My doctor also says emphyzema is a smokers final disease (as though not caused by anything else ) I wonder if this is true and should I seek other medical help ?
