This is my first experience in a support group. I am 47 and have always had near perfect health. I run marathons and ultra marathons (50 and 70 milers). This year I am lucky to run four miles, so I went in for a physical. I have been diagnose with mild emphysema, which surprised the hell out of me since I don't smoke and no one in my family has ever had emphysema. Can anyone describe how treatments have helped, if you are able to maintain a regular lifestyle, and what I can expect in the future. This is so newly diagnosed that I have not been put on a treatment yet. I appreciate any insight.
