I do not seem to have problems with Advair, and I do rinse carefully.
Best wishes.
Although I rinsed and gargled with salt water each time I used the Advair, I would still develop thrush.
I finally had to resort to taking Fluconazole, 100mg. 4 days a week. This seems to control it for me.
If I stop taking the Fluconazole the problem returns.
Thrush is a minor problem verses not being able to breath though.
For a quick thrush cure I've heard that the prescription mouthwash Nystatin is better, although I have no personal experience with it.
You also need to remember to replace any thing that comes in contact with your mouth or soak/ wipe down in a good half and half white vinegar solution daily. ( Tooth brushes, dentures, mouth pieces from nebs.. even replace your lipstick or chapstick if you used it during thrush) I keep a spray bottle of the vinegar solution in the bathroom and spry down my tooth brush and mouth pieces after ever use to reduce the risk of recurrence.. works for me!
If you've done all that and the rinses after using your inhalers and the thrush continues other things you can do on your own is reduce refined sugars and processed flours, take probiotics or even check with your local pharmacy for a product called gentian violet.
This stuff is a blue liquid you very lightly apply to your tongue using a moistened q-tip. Be careful! It stains anything it touches blue/ purple for life- except your tongue or skin which wears off in a day or so but makes for a very interesting smile! It also has a high alcohol content and you really don't want to use a bunch or swallow a bunch of it as it can burn the esophagus in high doses. It shouldn't be used for more than a few days in a row.
I know some folks don't like the stuff ( and it tastes like a wet sock) but it still is used very often in hospitals for thrush.
Lastly as some have mentioned, your Dr. can also RX for some fluconizole/ Difluian if the Nystatin doesn't work and you don't want to try the other stuff.
On a side note, there are plenty of people who benefit from the Advair, so I don't want to discourage anyone. The thrush was awful, the doctor prescribed the magic mouthwash and it took care of it within a couple of days. To my understanding the magic mouthwash has lidocaine, some kind of oral antibiotic, cherry benadryl and cherry Maalox.
