Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I have CVID. I was diagnosed in 1999 and was on IVIG for two years. At that time my IGg levels had reached a low normal level and my insurance would not pay fro it any longer. Now my immune system is so depleted that I'm back on IVIG. I see an infectious disease doctor who is wonderful but I am wondering if the IVIG works because I've had a severe sinus infection and orbital cellulitis and have been on IV antibiotics for three months now. Is IVIG enough or is there some other treatment out there?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Also you need to really pay attention to your body. I usually can tell when I start getting sick and call the doctor immediately and get a stronger antibiotic to stop it before it gets very far.
Have you thought about getting your IVIG every three weeks? That helps cut down on the number of infections a great deal.
I refuse to use antibiotics unless I have an infection that will not go away. Antibiotics kill both the good and bad bugs. Probiotics make the good bugs thrive.
My doc told me to take probiotics too.
I also make yogurt drinks from PLAIN yogurt and add some fruit or baking seaonings ie as pumpkin pie flavor, vanilla, cinnimon and so on.
