Coma Support Group
A coma is a profound state of unconsciousness. A comatose patient cannot be awakened, fails to respond normally to pain or light, does not have sleep-wake cycles, and does not take voluntary actions. Coma may result from a variety of conditions, including intoxication, metabolic abnormalities, central nervous system diseases, and hypoxia.

Hi all, I myself was not in a coma. It is a friend of mine. I have a couple questions but I'll ask the most recent "issue" one now.
He came out of the week coma about 2-3 weeks ago. His thoughts/memory, seem to be fine for the most part. He is very depressed/angry that he cannot do anything to get better quickly. His problem is that his legs had been numb since waking but he could move them. Now they are in constant pain, and he cannot take pain meds, doctors don't want him to relax, they want him to stay awake to get stronger. I'm guessing this has to do with nerves or something, but has anyone else experienced this themselves or with a loved one? If so, does it end? I feel so bad I am not near him and cannot support him there, but I try to give all the support I can since he is not even in a state to come to the comp. (I was able to talk to him less than one week ago before the pain started)
Thanks for anything you may be able to tell me!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Stay strong. *hug*
Jsnyder, I hope your pain can go away soon!!

Thought we could help..

My son who was in the crash with me and 11 at the time had it too. He had broke his hip and they put him on amnitryptaline (I am also on that) and same as me it helped but did not take it away. Once he started walking tho, it went away. I am not walking yet but hope that will be the cure for me.
Your friend I am afraid is in insurmountable pain and I cannot believe they are not giving him some sort of pain medication. Find out if they are giving him neurontin and amnitryptaline. If not they should be and you should make him aware of that. Good luck to you both!

Good luck and may God bless you and your family.
