I know fluid is a big problem for many of us and I believe the fluid I have is attributed more to the cirrhosis than the cancer. Does anyone take something other then Aldactone for fluid retention? It just doesn't seem to work for me. I am on 200mg/day but still have huge ankles, legs and abdomen. The skin half-way down my calf is red, hot & enormous. of course they have offered to do a paracentesis for my abdomen but I don't want it right now. I took a Lasix one night but I ended up with a dangerous electrolyte imbalance and heart arrhythmia which I guess is why they haven't prescribed it to me. I would just like to have 24 hours with my ankles back...LOL

When my ankles/feet were HUGE and I was retaining water, they prescribed hydrochlorothiazide (25MB). I had gained 10 lbs in one month and once I took the pill I lost 10 lbs in one week. My Mom also has taken this dieretic for years now. She has hypertension, diabetes, high cholosterol, et. I'm sure the doc won't prescribe anything that's dangerous for you. BUT make sure you replace the electrolytes while taking it (gatorade, etc).

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
