Went in today for update tests including an MRI. They were waiting for me with an authorization form to participate in their research on cirrhosis diagnosis. I underwent the test as part of the regular MRI and only added a couple minutes of time. They put a paddle on my abdomen above the liver. The paddle vibrates when the pictures are taken which supposedly lets them monitor the elasticity of the liver, obviously looking for fibrosus. The goal is to use this test in place of the biopsy and is currently being used on cirrohsis patients as there is obviously a liver issue. I was told this would also give them a better picture of my liver and better analyze changes. Who knows, but it is nice to see some actual research. Just thought I would share the experience.
