Hi everyone, I am new here. I just would like some advice on my situation. I was fit and healthy, then literally over a week I started felling off. Every prescription med I took seems to stay in my system and give me side effects. I used to feel really weird like I had been poisoned, even when I wasnt taking prescription meds. Hard to explain. Anyway I have been diagnosed with Gilberts Syndrome. But when my doctor got me to do a detox on my liver, my billirubin shot up to 70 umol/L. You may have to convert that depending on what part of the world you are in. The reference range is 2 - 20 umol/L. When I got this test done I was in the ER at a hospital thinking I was going to die. They thought I had hepatitus but i dont.
I went to a GI specialist and he said i just have gilberts syndrome and there is nothing wrong with my liver. Ultrasound is normal. Yet I feel really bad and medicines just keep screwing me over with side effects. Its like my liver doesnt metabolise them.
Does anyone know if this is liver disease or somthing? Or any ideas what could be going on here? Thankyou

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Gilbert's (zheel-BAYRZ) syndrome is a common, mild liver disorder in which the liver doesn't properly process a substance called bilirubin, which is produced by the breakdown of red blood cells. Also known as constitutional hepatic dysfunction, unconjugated benign bilirubinemia and familial nonhemolytic jaundice, Gilbert's syndrome typically doesn't require treatment or pose serious complications.
In fact, Gilbert's syndrome is usually not considered a disease because of its benign nature. Most people who have the disorder find out by accident, when they have a blood test that shows elevated bilirubin levels.
Gilbert's syndrome affects 3 percent to 10 percent of the U.S. population. More males than females have the condition.
This info can be found in several places. One being the mayo clinic website. As heppie said, google it. There's a lot of info out there.
I think that is all part of the syndrom that doesn't produce bilirubin which is important in breaking down the toxins you take in. I'm not sure but if it's anything like Hep, or any liver disorder, there isn't much that can be done other than to limit what you DO put in your body. Unfortunately, there is no magic treatment to help our body get rid of the toxins like they're supposed to. I wish I could help you more.
