I have a question about itching. I know excessive itching can be part of liver problems. Is that itching usually all over the body or localized in one area? I have an area on the underside of my left upper arm that itches. Not all the time, but periodically. It is a little red and there are some raised areas, kind of like hives, but they go away after a few hours. This started around this time last year and during the summer I had almost no problem with it at all, but i've noticed it starting to itch again periodically over the last week or so. Last year I thought it was just winter-skin, from the heater, etc...
The last time I went to the doctor my AST and ALT had both gone down about 40 points which my doctor attributed to weight loss and getting my diabetes under control. I am scheduled to see him again next week and I'm sure he'll do another Hep function panel. All my other numbers on the Hep panel three months ago were normal. I haven't had any swelling, but I do have aching pain in my upper right quadrant of my abdomen periodically and my bowels are always loose (although that's pretty normal for me because i've had IBS for over 20 years). I have not had a liver biopsy - doctor didn't think it was necessary. I guess we'll see what he says based on the new numbers when he re-checks my liver function tests.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You mentioned swelling..where did you have swelling? My extremeties swelled and it, along with fluid retention was caused by a reaction to Lexapro. That's the only thing we could figure because the symptoms went away after I stopped it.
It just sucks that everything goes through your liver and you don't know if a symptom you're having is a side-effect from a drug, or what. Good luck.
