I recently read a book called "The First Year: Cirhosis, an essential guide for the newly diagnosed" By James L Dickerson (a patient with cirrhosis caused by autoimmune hepatitis). It was really helpful and walked through everything from finding the right doctor, talking to friends and family, lab values and what they mean, health insurance, different causes of cirrhosis, treatment options and much more. It was a relatively quick read and the author wrote it in a way which was easy to understand, considering he is living with cirrhosis himself.
