After reading many journal entries, posts, and searching websites, I am baffled at how much stigma there is for people like myself who need daily pain medications to function. I looked up the definition of "addiction" at the American Pain Foundation's website, because it was suggested to me by my former dr that I was addicted. I am not addicted according to the defintion, if anything, yes maybe I have developed a tolerance at times, however, instead of this medication causes me dysfunction, it gave me function. I am so upset that pharmacies, dr's and others make us feel like we are junkies. Do they call diabetics junkies, how about someone who drinks coffee? We deserve respect and caring not prejudice and judgement in what we need to do to have a somewhat normal life. I am angry at myself for actually thinking I didnt have a right to get my medication because a dr unfairly judged me. Any other thoughts out there about this?
