2 months ago, I was feeling extremely tired. It "felt" like something was out of whack in my blood (ie a nutritional deficiency). My GP (family doc) ordered a battery of blood tests, and at my January appointment he told me that they all came back cleanm, which suprised me. Anyways, last week my doc's office called and strangly enough after 2 months they have new info on my blood test- and I was low in vitamin d. The receptionist that I spoke to said I should take 1000 IU's a day. I went online, and was amazed at all the information out there about the link between chronic pain and vitamin d deficiency. In my 9.5 year history of chronic myofascial syndrome (following 5 car accidents), I have never been tested for this, nor heard of the link. Some of the websites I read said that there is a specific link between chronic muscle pain (my big problem) and vitamin d. Some of the websites said I should take at least 2000 IU's a day. (Vit d is over the counter- not prescription). Should I take this extra dose? Also, some of the websites said it could takes weeks to months (up to 9 months) to work. Has anyone else ever had experience with this? Also, silly question, but is vitamin d3 the same as vitamin d? That's all I could find.
