Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Understand that there is no such thing as pain free. If we get 60 to 70 percent relief from therapies and medications then we are doing well.
It is pain management, coming to accept the fact that nothing is perfect is very important towards your feeling better.
Quality of life needs to be restored, after that it is all about a three pronged approach of mind, body and soul. The mind being anti-depressant meds if needed (many of us are on them and some work with nerve pain like Cymbalta). Next is body, the use of therapies and medications. The soul part is acceptance not surrender and your renewed faith that this isn't a punishment and that there is a reason for this, even if you haven't seen it yet. It took me 5 years to see mine. Many never do.
So try something different, work on a better course of pain and nerve meds, and see what happens. Finding the right combo of things is a practice and a patience thing. But if you have a pain doc willing to work with you then you will find your balance
