Thought I would share... (also posted this on the MS Community...)
I was talking with a dear friend of mine, and he asked what I was doing for dinner. I told him, we ate a good lunch, out with my mom, so we weren't going to eat dinner. Besides, we didn't have anything to eat tonight. He got upset because I didn't tell anyone. BUT, my child support check should post within the next day or so, so I can go to the grocery store then. It's not like we are starving - we have the odd can of whatever in the cabinet.
Well, hung up from him, came upstairs to put little one to bed, and he called back. Told me to answer the door for the pizza delivery. I thought he called and ordered a pizza, and he had paid for it. WRONG! It was HIM, and 3 friends he picked up on the way, from my church, armed with a pizza, bottled water, cereal, milk, fresh fruit, spaghetti and sauce, etc.!!!!!!!!! Like a little flurry of activity and then they were off.
TOO SWEET!!!!!!! You all have NO IDEA how much that meant to me and my kids!
For so many years, it has been me and my kids, getting a box of stuff together and taking it to someone. Kind of cool to be on the receiving end - and NOT expecting it.
Thought I would share, not only because I think it is totally awesome, what they did. BUT, to encourage all of us, to do the same. NO matter how "bad off" we are, we all have a little something we can share, especially this time of the year. Even if we can't do that, we can always send a note or a card to someone. That little bit of reaching out and touching someone, really can change a life.
Hope everyone has a great evening, and enjoy one another!
...hugs...
