A Rant
When we got home, I went through the mail. Good news, I got the Notice of award letter making it official I am getting assistance in paying for my medications.
The letter says the following:
75% subsidy to help you pay for your Medicare Part D premium
Reduced prescription drug deducible
Reduced prescription drug co-payment amounts.
Don't get me wrong, I had to have this to avoid the nightmares known as our HMO system. But they could have mentioned numbers, how much is the premium, better yet how much is the drug deductible. Without an HMO people on Medicare have to pay up to $3,675.00 so how much do I have to pay. Why not say it.
For once, I would like to get a letter from the Social Security/Medicare people that explains things clearly. Now I have to hold my breath yet again hoping that the number they have in mind for me is something I can afford. The system is so messed up, that on the ten year anniversary of the death of Pinks first husband, they didn't send a letter asking to see her child (I always refer to him as my oldest) was still alive so the survivor benefits would be justified. Instead they didn't ask for that. No, they wanted to see a copy of his death certificate in case he rose from the dead or something.
Middle Ouch has autistic syndrome, he has since done very well in school and socially. We applied for services when he was five. We were turned down. No problem, the letter said if he ever becomes retarded to let them know. They have since changed the law on that one. But the sheer stupidity of some of things they send you is unbelievable. Now we all know the computer generates the letters, but someone had to word them. How much money is this genius getting paid with our tax dollars to compose crap no one understands.
To all of you who are not on SSD, the "Notice of Award" letter you get starts with Dear Sir, Congratulations. That's great they congratulated me on being disabled. Like I one a prize or something. Like it is a good thing, I can no longer work.
My rant for this week, I feel better now.

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
As soon as you open the letter, you hold your breath until you see the We are pleased to tell you. We too get stupid letters, we have different departments for different dss agencies, they all want the same information and you have to fill in forms all saying the same thing. then your doc has to fill in forms too.. crazy
But I do understand.

Yup, I agree with Ouch, it is stupidly written like the "Prize Patrol" has just arrived in your mailbox....Where's Ed McMahon???
Thats because on my SSD I am making to much money. To much money, yeah that's right, I bank so much each month after expenses I am going on a trip around the world. Heck I cannot afford a trip down the stairs at the end of the month.

Not one response.
Once I get through this weeks appointments for 6 level facet blocks and the connective tissue specialist, I am going to get a Medi-Gap insurance policy to cover the 20% Medicare doesn't pay and my meds.
This way I see my doctors and save money on prescriptions. It actually works out for the best, once a solution presented itself.
I have resources, family and friends help us when needed. But what happens to all of the people who cannot make a phone call and get money.
Thank you all for listening and for the suggestions you have offered. I appreciate the time you took and the care you all showed. Pray for our sister uniquedestiny.
God bless,

How we allowed our congress to pass this law, where Medicare does not negotiate for discounted medications is ridiculous.
California allows for Medicare recipients
to buy there medications for the same price the states Medi-Cal (Medicaid) program pays. So that will save me a lot of money. i have an appointment on the 3rd of January to enroll.
