I have two torn discs L4/L5/S1 with low back pain and nerve pain running down my legs in the distribution of the L4 nerve. My MRI doesn't show nerve compression or spinal stenosis. I've recently been denied by my short term disability insurance company and they stated the reason being that the mri didn't show nerve compression or stenosis. One doctor told me that mri's aren't perfect and don't show everything. I'm having nerve pain in my legs so I know it's possible to have nerve pain even though the mri doesn't show nerve compression or stenosis. I'm appealing the decision and trying to find supporting documentation that one can have nerve pain in the legs with the absence of nerve compression or stenosis showing on the mri. I've been searching the web but haven't found anything yet. Have any of you ever come across information like this or know where I might find the info?
