Okay, Dan has another appointment on Thurs. Now we have to convince him that Dan is not abusing the hydrocodone, but that 1/2 a day isn't enough. I take the bottle to show how many are left. When I looked at the rx today, I saw that he is only allowed 2 refills (60 each) until March! That means that if he is in extra pain - well forget it and just suffer!
I get tired of having to beg for the pain relief he needs. 1/2 hydrocodone lowers his pain from a 9 (scale 0-10) to about a 7. He needs more, but the dr. seems very reluctant to give it.
Any advice? (He's on other pain meds, but this is the only strong one.)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
The Rx really doesn't make much sense because its for 60 at "every 6 hrs as needed for pain". This comes to only 2 a day. We are only doing 1/2 because the dr didn't even want to give us this much and we are trying to prove that he's not abusing it. He wasn't going to renew it at all until I showed him how much was left from the original rx. I just get tired of fighting the system all the time.
best wishes you and your hubby

We asked the dr for a referral to a pain clinic and he quickly set up an appointment for us which led to an MRI which led to neck surgery. All this happened in about 2 weeks time because our dr knew that our insurance was running out. The MRI showed that the bone spurs in the neck and lower back were blocking the spinal fluid. In 3 months he will be having the lower back surgery. I really am thankful that your advice led us to talk to our dr and get this done.
He's still in pain, but there is some hope that the pain will become less.
