I am coming to accept that I may be disabled after my next surgery in August. Its a strong possibility and while it might not happen, i need to do research in case it does. I know absolutely nothing about disability other than calling one laywer who specializes in it and asked a few questions. I told them I was still working and they immediately told me I could not qualify until I was out of work for 12 months. Actually, as of last Friday my doctor has me out of work, so i guess the clock is ticking. I looked into it, and the law in my state does require me to be out of work for a year before I can apply for benefits. So... What does one do for income for the first 12 months? (i'm a single mom of 2 with no parents or family and state assistance would not cover my mortgage). I have 2 special needs children and my house has been modified to accomodate them and myself so moving is NOT an option. Once i'm out of work for 12 months, how long does it take to get on disability? What is the process?

I miss traveling with my husband. Has anyone found a specific site regarding cruising for widow/widowers or any sightseeing trips. Not interested in being with couples and kids,,,I realize a cruise ship will have a portion size of families and couples, but perhaps they also put together a part of the cruise ship for groups of widows/widowers????
