I joined Christian Fellowship over a decade ago.
I actually talked to the original founder of Christian Fellowship. Daily Strength Started a few years after 2000 in California. If you see a number by your name, that will indicate how many people were in DS at the time you joined.
When our founder joined, he quickly realized that the prevailing view (especially in the biggest group, the Depression group which is still probably the biggest group here) the view was that you solve your sadness either by: talking it over with others (reason for DS), going to counseling and/or taking medicine for your mental problem.
He was disappointed that there was no place for the solution of prayer, of being around like-minded Christians. In fact, mentioning God or Christianity was openly met with SKEPTICISM among other DS members. There was no place for Christian fellowship. So, he decided to start the group, so that if you wanted to discuss your problems and ask people to pray for you, then you could in this group. If you wanted to share Biblical scripture, you could.
He left (and I'm sure Marlene still remembers this & Joey, too) because there was a controversy that erupted in this group 9 or 10 years ago. We had a few people who thought CF was "lame" because we weren't out actively converting non-believers to Christianity. So, there was complaining, people who would make up different identities after behaving badly and being kicked out of the group....all sorts of mess.
Contrary, to those who created a controversy a long time ago, I think what we are doing here currently is important. I think that reinforcing our belief by talking, seeking support from other members here is very important.
So, hope you enjoyed learning something new about this group.
Welcome to the group Ninewh ( hope I got that right). Blessings.
Blessed Heavenly Father,We come before you humbly today for we are nothing without you, Lord. Thank you for our life, our emotions, our material possessions for it all comes from you.Lord, we daily see our beloved country which you gave us falling deeper and derper into sin. It saddens us; how you must be pained so desperately also. We also see the devastation in other parts of the world. It...
