The result of CMT for me has been surgery on almost every joint in my body. The doctors are always amazed at what they find when they open the joint up. Ligaments and tendons are not in the right place and there is muscle atrophy near the muscles that hold the joints together. I understand that atrophy to the muscles is caused by damage to motor nerves (i.e. the muscles do not get used in the manner they are supposed to). But why are the ligaments and tendons always in the wrong place? I have never read or heard any mention of this. Of course I never read anyway. :)
