Cervical Cancer Support Group
Cervical cancer is a malignancy of the cervix. Worldwide, it is the second most common cancer of women. It may present with vaginal bleeding but symptoms may be absent until the cancer is in advanced stages, which has made cervical cancer the focus of intense screening efforts utilizing the Pap smear. This is the place to talk about your experience with the cancer.

Anyone else here had a hysterectomy without removing the ovaries? My Dr told me that, because I was/am so young, she didn't remove my ovaries, just my cervix and uterus. So, I was happy...no hormone replacement therapy, no going through the hell of early menopause.
My question is this...I was told that, although I don't actually have a menstrual cycle, I should still experience some PMS symptoms once a month similar to what I was experiencing pre-hysterectomy.
Well, I don't....not in the least. When I told my family doctor this, he said there's a good chance that my ovaries aren't functioning at 100%, or possibly not at all. He suggested I return to my Gynecologist and have her run some tests because he is concerned that I may be at risk for osteoporosis.
It has only been two years since my surgery. Had I known this was likely to happen, I would have had her remove my ovaries, as well, to avoid the risk of ovarian cancer, etc.
Is this a real possibility? Has anyone here had this happen???

My doc left my ovaries as I was so young also. I do have the PMS symptoms that I had before, minus the cramping. I however think that I may be going through early menopause now tho. I have alot of the symptoms. My mom went thru it young and my sister was premenopausal @ 29. I was told that I cannot take HRT...as these can cause cancer. Hmmmmmm. I guess you better get that checked. If I wasn't so scared all the time, I would have my levels checked. I think it might be nice to know for sure, tho there really isn't anything that can be done about it.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
