Cervical Cancer Support Group
Cervical cancer is a malignancy of the cervix. Worldwide, it is the second most common cancer of women. It may present with vaginal bleeding but symptoms may be absent until the cancer is in advanced stages, which has made cervical cancer the focus of intense screening efforts utilizing the Pap smear. This is the place to talk about your experience with the cancer.
I understand your fear of this. I do not know if severe dysplasia means cancer or not but mine did progress to it. I know when i received my news that i had cervical cancer i barely asked my doctor a single question out of shock i guess. I went into the surgery (conization) blind. It was very scary, if i had known before hand maybe it would not have been as bad.
My experience was waiting in a room wearing only a hospital gown and slippers for what seemed like forever. Then going into a outpatient room with just the doctor and nurse. You lie down pretty much like when you get a Pap done. The doctor freezes you (didn't really hurt) then they perform the procedure. I did not feel it at all. Afterwards i had a little cramping and light bleeding, but nothing to bad. My advice if you have a female friend that can come with you, it would probably help you alot. I brought my husband not knowing that he could not go to that area, so i was all alone and that made it scary for me.
If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here.
All the best on the 6th
