Cody has spastic Quad and is 5 years old, he has never crawled, commando or otherwise, can not walk without his walker and even then thats a struggle, is unable to sit unaided for more than 10 seconds or so. I have noticed reading through this forum that a lot of you walk. Would you explain your CP "type" and if you can walk and for those that do walk, at what age did you start? I know we are all different, I cannot envision Cody ever walking independantly, without aid, so im interestedto know. And anything else you see relevant to this question.
Thankyou for being tolerant, this is the first CP forum I have joined and as a mum I have approximately 3 million questions that I need answers to, so I thankyou all ahead of time for your input, its fantastic to speak to "professionals" that arent wearing a white coat!!!

Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My son is 8 and is just now starting to walk a little on his own or with holding one hand. We were told he may never walk and I also I thought I would never see the day. But with a great PT, botox (in calf's & hamstrings) and AFOS he has come a long way. One of his biggest struggles was his balance and his PT has done wonders with that. At 5 he ways no where near walking on his own he had just learned to use his walker independently. So keep the strength it can happen. Does he go to PT?
