Hi, im Codys mummy, he is 5 years old and has CP. He cant walk, crawl or stand unassisted. He is in a wheelchair and also uses a Gator Walker, when I can bribe him! He is Mr Personality as well as a middle child between 2 sisters, so also known as Mr crapstirrer! We live in Australia. Cody goes to 4 year old kindergarten at the moment and is starting Grade prep in a mainstram primary school next year, so we are really looking forward to that!! Cody is a happy little boy, he has put up with a lot in he's short little life so far and im sure much more to come, but he takes it all in his stride and really looks at himself no differently. He has heaps of friends, which we are so grateful for and he loves playing with them as well as watching them play, he knows there are things that he cant do and it really dosent seem to bother him at all.... Problem is it bothers me :( Im scared of what the future holds for my Cody, im scared he will be ostracised by children or picked on for being "different" when in reality the only outward difference is that he's legs dont walk, other than that he is extremely intelligent.. I just want him to stay happy always, even though I know I cant protect him 24/7... Sorry, im rambling and it proberly dosent make much sense to you all.... Anyway, cheers!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Talk to Cody everyday about school and friends-Ask him questions that cannot be answered with 'yes' or 'no.' Spend time with classmates and friends, answer their questions. Get books about kids with diabilites read with him and his friends, which will help him academically as well. Join groups that have kids with and without disabilites. Show his friends that you treat him normally, not showing favortism (eventhough he is your baby) or letting him have it easier than others.
If you need clarification or other questions, let me know.
Hope this helps!
