Cerebral Palsy Support Group
Cerebral palsy or CP is the most common childhood physical disability. It is a permanent physical condition that affects movement. There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but various forms of therapy can help a person with the disorder to function more effectively. If you or a loved one has cerebral palsy, join the group to share your experience or get advice from others.
The doctors were wrong. Perhaps the medical society is more sophisticated now than they were then. He walked alone at 19 months, babbled at 2. He did wear a short-leg brace for a while but didn't like it. He received wonderful speech therapy and has no problems. He graduated HS and Community college with a 2.9 GPA. He is an excellent swimmer, biker, hiker, has lived on his own since he was 19, has his own car, and a good job.
It took a long time, but he is completely self-sufficient and is a wonderful man. We're very proud of him.
I pray this experience will give you hope. It may not be as bleak as originally presented.
