Celiac Disease Support Group
Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder of the digestive system that occurs in genetically-predisposed individuals. It is characterised by damage or flattening to all or part of the villi lining the small intestine, which interferes with the absorption of nutrients. This damage is caused by eating anything with gluten (gliadin), a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley...

Hey, i really need some help here-
My stomach hurts so badly and is 10 times it's size. what do i do now? my laxatives aren't working... and i hate taking them--
I'm so sick of having celiac disease. it really effects my home, love and social life as well as my education and my 2 part-time jobs..
I want to stop. i really am quite possitive about it.
and pretend that it's a good thing that doesn't bother me. but my stomache is hurting horrendously as it had for a few days. my only few days off and i am unable to do anything. my poor boyfriend is being VERY understanding and puts up with all the embarrasing factors that come with having celiac disease. but i feel so bad for it.
i'm feeling a lot better after getting that out. but man-- it's quite frusterating :(
Does anyone know what i can do to fix myself for the time being?

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
cheated because you crave gluten during the withdrawal ( about 3 months) Then I would get sick again. But you really do get used to it.
My worst craving was pizza. now I don`t care about it any more. Also, the depression and feeling freaky in your mind is part of the withdrawal from the gluten. It`s called brain fog.
Gluten will make alot of our minds whack out. It`s like poison to us and it will definetly interfere with our emotions.
Secondly, the best way to deal with it as far as other people is to make light about it and not make a big deal about it. So you can`t eat wheat. What does that have to do with you as a person-nothing. Diabetics have to do insulin and not eat sugar. Other people have all sorts of health issues they have to deal with. If you don`t make a big deal out of it and let it slow you down, or get all depressed, it won`t make much of an impact. Another thing, Don`t say I have Celiac`s Disease. The word Disease freaks people out and they think you are contagious or going to die or something. Just say I can`t eat this or that because I am allergic to stuff made out of wheat. If they ask what will happen if you eat it, I just say, I`ll get really sick like a bad case of the flu and be down for a day or two, not worth it. You don`t need to explain any more.Done, end of story. No big deal. If you are going out to eat, if there`s nothing on the menu, ask the waiter if they can make you something like a burger no bun and some side veggies.
The worst thing I`ve heard is, man that sucks. I say, well, you get use to it no big deal,It`s not going to kill me. Rather have this than dying of cancer, and DROP THE SUBJECT! Don`t give it more energy than it`s worth.
You guys are still dotxing and changing over. So it is on your mind alot and you are obsessing because you are having gluten cravings.
I did this too. 6 months from now you will be doing much better, and 2 years from now it will be a non issue and you won`t even miss the wheat ( well, at least not much)
with this old guy who I think was addicted to gluten. That was like all he ate. Well every day he would go to this coffee shop bakery and order 2 big pecan sticky buns and eat them in front of me smacking his lips. I would sit there and watch him, while going with nothing.I told him it would be nice if we could go somewhere that I could have something. Well he did this two more times and I really got mad. He told me that he wasn`t used to being around "picky people " who can`t eat wheat, and he didn`t get sick from it and didn`t think I "should" either. What a moron. Then he would always go to an Italian place and gobble down tons of Garlic bread and pasta. The only thing I could even order was a salad. He didn`t fricking care. He was only concerned about his belly. He`d say, just order a salad. I ditched the moron. If you get with a guy that is jerky about this and won`t make accomodations, he is simply a jerk, not worth wasting your time.
