Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder of the digestive system that occurs in genetically-predisposed individuals. It is characterised by damage or flattening to all or part of the villi lining the small intestine, which interferes with the absorption of nutrients. This damage is caused by eating anything with gluten (gliadin), a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley...
It's Jette again! You can safely use ground flax seed as a bran addition to your food - it's rich in omega 3's. Also, rice bran, and adding magnesium biocitrate as a supplement will help keep you balanced! Actually, most magnesium supplements help. I noticed that I've had at times, constipation sometimes which was a total switch from the runs! And puzzling! But once I added the bran, upped my water and started the magnesium, it's more balanced. Even eating more nuts has been helpful. It's always a balancing act with the diet and supplements but totally controllable! Good luck!
It is over the counter so you won't need a prescription. She is not a Celiac so check out if it is GF. It takes a while to work- I am told.
