Yowling female in heat.....arrrrgghhh!
my fiance and i aren't sure how old our kitty is...this is new to me..i've always had male cats.
how long does the heat cycle last and how far apart are they?
i've already spoken with a vet and they said its more expensive to spay when the kitty is in heat, and believe me, she IS!!!!!
so we are waiting till she's done and then, its off to the vet!!!

Generally a few days to a week. And yes, it's more expensive to spay during a heat cycle.
I am happy to hear that you will be having her spayed. Female cats live longer when spayed, and their risk of mammory gland tumors is reduced to practically zero.
Make certain that she does not come into contact with in-tact tomcats before she is spayed. Many vets charge extra if it turns out that the cat is pregnant at the time of surgery. Not to mention, it would be basically an abortion, and a very sad ending to the kittens.
The howling will stop soon- just a few more nights of this and it will all be over.
Best wishes and *hugs*
