It was not a bad fall, but any fall at 95 years old can be a bad fall. Luckily I was:
At home, and not at a client site or running erronds.
Inside instead of outside doing what ever.
In the room next to her's (my office and her bedroom - where she fell - share a common wall)
Not in the bathroom (with an exhaust fan that makes a lot of noise)
Not listening to music/had a movie on in the background.
The only way it could have been "better" would have been if I was in the room with her.
Time to do something. I think we really need in-house cameras. Now that I have a smart phone, we can get something that gives us internet access via phones. She had a life-alert type button when she lived alone. If my wife and I are both out of the house, MIL is basically living alone, if only for a few hours.
Now to wait for Mrs. Pepper to get home so I can tell her. No point in calling her at work, nothing she can do about it now, nothing needs doing now except to keep a closer watch on her.
Cleaner is here!! Called to say he was running a bit late - impressive then showed up exactly when he said he would. Looked at rooms and gave me price slightly lower than what was quoted on phone. Admitted he may not be able to get all stains out but said he'd do his best. A great start !!
Carpet cleaners come!! This is the worst room, by far. My daughters. My wonderful, creative, but messy with her art supplies daughter. Really, no regrets. I'd rather foster her creativity then mind the stains. However it will be interesting if the cleaners can revive this carpet!! I will forgive them if they cannot.
