this is like Jeopardy...
the answer before the question...
A: let FIL be a bit dirty, but happy with no conflict
the Q: what should I do when FIL (who lives on his own) keeps wearing the same soiled trousers for months on end? when I go to his house he already has them on so when I pick up soiled clothes, I cannot pick those up and wash them LOL
(but yet I can find 50 pairs of clean, pressed trousers he could be wearing)
people tell me he's looking a bit ungroomed (dog hair on his clothes, food stains on his pants, maybe needs a shower) but if we have A TALK with him about it he will be HORRIFIED. his feelings will be hurt and he won't remember a few days after, but he may recall that we are at odds, just not sure why.
We can let him be frumpy and happy
or
clean (for a few days) and offended (for quite a while).
Did I make the right choice?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I would have to get over here once she had taken the clothes off to go to bed, that's if she took them off, then I'd get them to wash
It wasnt an offense or anything, just a matter of getting ahold of the clothes before she nabbed them again and put them back on
they could wear the same clothes till the clothes walked away because they were so stiff from dirt and it wouldnt bother them, some of them anyhow
That worked once!!!! I think they get comfortable with the security of the same old same old. I decided, like you, that its better for them to be happy!
